Gloria Tinker
My Art/Myself…As an only child my art was my babysitter, best friend, teacher, entertainer, and a therapeutic comfort. My art helped support me and my family, as the periods of my paintings walked in step beside the stages of my personal development.
My approach is up and close personal, with goals that differ with each painting, I work primarily in oils, transparent watercolor, gouache and acrylic. I paint from my own emotions and wish to move the viewer the same way. Sometimes a painting tells a story, or makes the viewer happy or whimsical, at other times sad or nostalgic. Sometimes I want the viewer to think, share a message; in other paintings I wish to coax the eye to relax and enjoy a journey through color and design.
Native American, spirtual pieces, the myths and legends series and symbolic surrealism are carefully thought out and researched. Works in floral, fantasy, wildlife and other natural wonders are usually painted for the pure joy and pleasure of the subjects themselves.
My art has taken me to many places in a long exhibit history. My exhibit “Like A Flower” showing in the Art Center at Novacella, Italy in 2006, and Hilo Hawaii, Art In The Iron Works, in 2007 were highlights along the way. My art has travelled the world in publications, calendars and engagement books. My paintings are displayed in private and corporate collections. My work can presently be found in the Coos Art Museum, Coos Bay, OR. At Emerald Art Gallery in Springfield, OR. And I am showing at Gallery 71 in Eugene, OR.
My art has given me a teaching career as a Fine Arts Instructor with Lane Community College, Eugene, Oregon for 14 years, then with Willamalane Parks and Recreation for 11 years. Teaching many workshops in many places for other organizations along the way.
I now paint for exhibitions, galleries and museums from my studio in the lush McKenzie River valley east of Eugene,Oregon. I live with my husband, two horses, two amazing Parrots, a Macaw and a vast array of furry and feathered friends.
My paintings continue to allow me to express myself and connect with those outside of “self”. The woman, artist and teacher that I am today continues to evolve through My Art.
I now offer more than 45 art images that are available on a variety of things. Art prints, beach towels, pillows, cups etc. For a list of items and designs click on link below.
